On Monday, 11th September, the Town Council approved the proposal to run a Youth Event on Tenterden Recreation Ground on Sunday, 11th August 2024. The Town Council event, which is being led by Cllr. Andy Keates, will showcase many of the activities available to the youth in the parish of Tenterden.
The event, which is set to take place the day before International Youth Day, will include performances from local groups including dancing, singing, wrestling and army demonstrations; there will be a BBQ, free fairground rides and free face painting, and the chance for youth organisations and businesses to promote their activities at individual stalls around the park.
The Town Council has agreed to provide funding of £2,000 towards the event with other funding sources being sought from outside organisations and the National Lottery.
Cllr. Keates reported at the meeting on 11th September that he really wanted the event to be a family friendly day which would appeal to younger siblings as well as the older youth and by providing the entertainment, free face painting and free fairground rides, this should hit the mark. Many local youth organisations are already really keen to be part of this event, and so far the plans have all the means of the day being a great success.
More information regarding the event will be published in 2024 on the Town Council’s website, social media and noticeboards.
