Detailed plans are being formulated for the town’s celebration of the 75th anniversary of VE Day, which brought World War Two in Europe to an end.
Tenterden Town Council was briefed at its meeting onMonday, 10 February about the outline programme for the event, which will be held on the Recreation Ground on Friday, 8 May.
Ideas under discussion include….
- A piper to play ‘Battle’s O’er’ at 3pm, to mark the start of the celebrations.
- An English Afternoon Tea for the town’s World War Two veterans and members of the public.
- The lighting of the town beacon at 7pm by the Mayor, Cllr Jean Curteis, and…
- Music, entertainment and Maypole dancing.
