With the re-opening of Tenterden Leisure Centre following the easing of pandemic restrictions, representatives of the organisation made a presentation to the Town Council on Monday, 12 April.
Representatives explained how the centre had been refreshed, with new Covid-safety measures. A new roof is being installed, work is being done to bring in further investment, and new programmes have been created to reduce obesity and improve the health and wellbeing of residents of Tenterden and surrounding villages.
Since 2002, the Centre has received more than £1 million in investment, recorded more than 10 million customer visits, and awarded £120,000 in sports bursaries to young people.
The council is exploring other opportunities of working with the Leisure Centre, including closer involvement with the Recreation Ground re-ordering project.
