Tenterden Town Council heard at its meeting on Monday, 12 July that the town’s finances were in an extremely healthy condition, despite the challenges of an unprecedented year.
Town Clerk Phil Burgess reported that the town’s ‘net worth’ on 31 March, the end of the council’s financial year, stood at £3,491,828 including savings, bank accounts and investments.
Although the impact of Covid had reduced income on lettings and rentals of council properties, overall there were savings of £177,000. While financial support dropped for civic and town events during the year, the council still covered cancellation fees for event organisers to ensure their survival.
